Outdoor Living
Outdoor Living spaces in our area bring months of enjoyment because of our favorable climate. With typically mild winters, our clients enjoy their outdoor living spaces almost year-round. We design and build screen porches, open porches, stone patios, sunrooms and decks. Outdoor Living is one of the fastest growing aspects of the remodeling industry nationwide. Outdoor living is more popular than ever and we could say “living out is in” but we won’t.
We have a few design notes regarding porches. Flying bugs don’t crawl up through the gaps in the decking so don’t place screen below the deck. It catches dirt and provides no additional protection from bugs. Skylights placed in the porch ceiling bring light into the windows below and provide nice bounced light inside the porch. Tile flooring on a screen porch adds a touch of indoor elegance and we use special adhesives and grout for outdoor applications.
Outdoor living sometimes calls for outdoor fireplaces. Outdoor fireplaces come with gas logs or in wood burning models so you can cozy up to the fire on a cool evening while sipping a nice Cabernet. Terraces often have masonry fireplaces and built-in grills to add to the outdoor experience.
Railings are a defining feature on a new porch. Painted horizontal pipes can add a cool factor. Black decorative spindles dress up a porch. Stainless steel could be that special touch that adds a defining look. New composite railings never need painting and last for years.
Entertaining outdoors is especially pleasant with creative lighting, outdoor speakers and comfortable seating.
