A Kitchen To Meet The Needs Of An Active Family.

Creating a larger kitchen was a must for this family of five with three boys. We opened up several walls to create a large “sit-up” granite island with five stools. Creamy white glazed cabinets and a crisp white subway tile backsplash with glass tile accents lightened and brightened the space. Spacious granite countertops for homework and dining, plus ample cabinet storage and a desk/computer area for recipes, emails and research have made this kitchen a hard-working center of activity for this busy family.

Remodeling design often requires removing a wall or two, but this project required removal of an original house corner with two load bearing walls. A 28-foot steel beam had to be installed to open the kitchen adequately. What was once a tight, dark kitchen has been transformed into the favorite gathering place in the house.
